    Komodo National Park is a wonderful national park in Indonesia, located in the center of Indonesian archipelago, between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores, in East Nusa Tenggara. The park includes three larger islands: Komodo, Rinca and Padar, plus 26 smaller ones, together totaling 603 km2 of land and a total area of 1,733 km2. This extraordinary park is also known as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

    Komodo National Park is home of the remarkable Komodo Dragon, the world’s largest lizard. This park was originally established by the Indonesian government to protect these animals, which are only found on these islands. This resulted in Komodo National Park being inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. The park is also dedicated to protect other species, including marine and other terrestrial species.

    What to do in Komodo National Park?

    Most of the visitors who come to Komodo National Park, come to catch a glimpse of the world’s largest lizard or to dive in one of the more 50 world-class dive sites that have listed the park in one of the top dive destinations of the world. The park has a spectacular biodiversity, healthy and colorful coral gardens surrounding the islands. The marine environment is so diverse that includes not only stunning coral reefs, but mangroves, seagrass beds, seamounts and semi-enclosed bays. You can dive in sites with strong currents with a chance of glimpsing large pelagic species and also discover the amazing macro life around. It is by all means, a marine lover’s paradise.

    In addition to these already major reasons to visit the area, Komodo National Park has many more attractions to add to the list. It has amazing treks, with stunning view points. There are treks for all levels, from very easy ones to more steep and longer ones, all of them with a worthwhile reward at the summit. In Kalong Island you can appreciate a unique performance at sunset time when thousands of giant fruit bats emerge from the trees, coming out from their hiding place to find food. If you are a water person, but you are not already a certified diver, you will find pristine beaches where to swim, where to observe the marvelous marine life snorkeling or even kayaking, accessing to more remote beaches. If you want to relax, you will find the perfect scenery, inhabited islands, deserted beaches with warm turquoise waters and white sand. There are some caves to explore and you will even find a beach with pink sand, the famous Pink Beach / Pantai Merah!

    Fauna & Flora

    The marine fauna of Komodo National Park is beyond abundant: there are more than 1,000 species of tropical fish, 260 species of coral, 70 species of sponges and rare marine mammals. With no doubt, one of the main marine attractions of the park, is to have one or more encounters with the majestic Manta Ray, the largest ray in the world. Komodo It is the largest sanctuary for these splendid species and one of the few places where it is possible to spot them at their real habitat, either diving or snorkeling. The terrestrial fauna is smaller in comparison to the marine fauna, you can find Timor deers, water buffalos, wild boars, crab-eating macaque, palm civet, Rinca rat, fruit bats, imperial pigeons, sunbirds, egrets, quail, and exotic mound-building megapodes, cobras, and vipers. Domestic mammals in the park include goats, horses, cats and dogs.

    As you can see there is an endless list of things to see or do in your visit to this outstanding part of Indonesia. The best & most unique way to visit Komodo National Park is by far on a Komodo liveaboard cruise. On departure from Labuan Bajo, a small fishing town.     Best season and how to get there

    The best time to visit Komodo National Park is between April and December during the dry season, with a very nice weather, not too hot with very little to no rain. The rainy season usually starts early in December. However, regardless of the time you decide to visit, diving in some sites of the Park can be easily done all year round. In North and Central Komodo National Park the best time for diving is from April to November and in South Komodo National Park the best time is from October till April.

    The best way to get to Labuan Bajo is by airplane. Komodo airport is located just 2 km from the center of Labuan Bajo and has 4 to 6 daily flights arriving from Bali and elsewhere. There are also direct flights from Jakarta.

    Open water certified divers or equivalent will have access to most of the dive sites, but to make the best of the cruise Advanced level and experience in drift dive is recommended. You can spend a few days with us in Bali before starting your cruise, by joining our Safari tour or to get your Advanced certification in one of our four dive centers, it will allow you to dive up to 30m depth, to join night dives and be more confident and comfortable while drift diving.

    For an even better training we recommend you to join the drift specialty in Nusa Lembongan.

    Indonesia spread over its more than 5000 km along the Equator which offers a tropical climate with only two season, dry & wet.

    Dry season is mainly from May to October Wet season from November to April.
    Keep in mind that Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago, so you can visit year-round as wet season won’t start in the same time in different places.

    Landscapes are also pretty different due to Tropical rainforest climate and Tropical savannah climate.

    We do recommend you to bring your own gears if you already own it. If not it’s not a big deal, you can rent the full set onboard, some of our partners provide rental equipment for free, maximum you can expect another 60$ per day.
    As a reminder, every scuba diver should be equipped with: Wetsuite/BCD/Regulator set/Fins/Weight system/Dive computer/SMB/Torchlight/Compass.


    Nitrox tanks are available on most of the boats, please refer to the boat description.

    Most of the time €, Us$ are accepted onboard, but we do recommend you to bring enough cash in local currency IDR. Payement by card are available on some boats, please refer to the boat description.
    Most of electric outlets on board are European type.

    Tipping from 5 to 10% of the cruise amount are expected, it express your satisfaction level. Tips are also an important income part for crew members.
