    The best reefs dive sites in Komodo:

    Komodo National Park has some of the best coral reefs in the world. There are over 50 spectacular dive sites in the park, some of them with their own features. When it comes to the most pristine coral reefs, the following sites will give you an example of the breathtaking sceneries you can find:

    Batu Bolong: it is known for being one of the most spectacular dive sites in Komodo National Park. The reef is in great conditions, you can observe the healthy and genuine underwater scenery, with some vibrant corals.

    Castle Rock: another site to find a great life, with healthy and colorful corals.

    Tatawa Besar: it is one of the most amazing, colorful coral gardens of the Komodo archipelago. It has stunning coral reefs in the shallows.

    What are the reef species you can find in Komodo?

    Coral reef fish are an important part in the tremendous biodiversity that Komodo National Park has. Coral reef fish are fish which live among or in close relation to coral reefs. Tons of species can live in a small area of healthy reef, and this is exactly what you find in the park. They hide sometimes or even camouflage, finding the way to survive on the reefs. Coral reefs provide home for 25 percent of all marine fish species.

    Some of the reef species you will find in Komodo are:

    Clown Fish: also known as anemone fish, are a type of damselfish that live only in anemones. They are one of the most beloved fish of the reef.

    Angelfishes: are colorful reef fish that are closely related and look like butterfly fishes, but are usually larger.

    Needlefish: are long, slim, silvery fishes with a thin, pointed jaw that resembles a large needle. They swim very close to the surface, even sometimes above the reef making it easy for snorkelers to spot them.

    Parrotfish: are reef fish with bright colors, with medium to large sizes, that look similar to wrasses.

    Triggerfish: are brightly coloured with a large head, leathery skin and marked with lines and spots. Some of them can be very territorial. They most are found in shallow, coastal habitats, especially at coral reefs.

    Barracudas: are very long, slim, predatory fish. You will often see them in big schools, although the largest barracudas are loners. Some species are mostly seen by divers on the reefs.

    Napoleon Humphead wrasse: is a large species of wrasse mainly found on coral reefs.

    Frogfish: are small, short, often brightly colored, and stocky fish, frequently covered with bumpy, bifurcated spicules to help them camouflage. Lionfish Lionfish is a beautiful and venomous marine fish. The sting is not fatal to humans; however, can be painful and can last for a couple of days

    Moray eel: is a large species of eel. Although they may look like snakes, they are actually fish and not reptiles.

    Rays & Sharks

    Marble Ray: are rounder and more disc-shaped compared to other stingrays. They are usually offshore on sandy bottoms, most of the time buried under the sand

    The Reef Manta Rays: are one the largest rays in the world. Most of the Mantas you see in Komodo are reef Mantas.

    White tip reef sharks: live close to the reef. These are some of the more common sharks of Komodo Black tip reef sharks Black tip reef sharks have bulkier bodies and you see them cruising by close to the reef slopes and sandy bottoms.

    Grey reef sharks: are usually the most exciting sharks to encounter in Komodo as you will see less of them and they dominate the other smaller species of reef sharks. They tend to dwell in areas with current and on deeper slopes.

    Like if this was not enough, there is also a vast variety of wonderful macro life, just look for the tiny things on the reef and then the true beauty will begin.

    Not at all, beginners can do discover scuba diving during the cruise (let us know to arrange it)


    Open water certified divers or equivalent will have access to most of the dive sites, but to make the best of the cruise Advanced level and experience in drift dive is recommended. You can spend a few days with us in Bali before starting your cruise, by joining our Safari tour or to get your Advanced certification in one of our four dive centers, it will allow you to dive up to 30m depth, to join night dives and be more confident and comfortable while drift diving.

    For an even better training we recommend you to join the drift specialty in Nusa Lembongan.

    Indonesia spread over its more than 5000 km along the Equator which offers a tropical climate with only two season, dry & wet.

    Dry season is mainly from May to October Wet season from November to April.
    Keep in mind that Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago, so you can visit year-round as wet season won’t start in the same time in different places.

    Landscapes are also pretty different due to Tropical rainforest climate and Tropical savannah climate.

    We do recommend you to bring your own gears if you already own it. If not it’s not a big deal, you can rent the full set onboard, some of our partners provide rental equipment for free, maximum you can expect another 60$ per day.
    As a reminder, every scuba diver should be equipped with: Wetsuite/BCD/Regulator set/Fins/Weight system/Dive computer/SMB/Torchlight/Compass.


    Nitrox tanks are available on most of the boats, please refer to the boat description.

    Most of the time €, Us$ are accepted onboard, but we do recommend you to bring enough cash in local currency IDR. Payement by card are available on some boats, please refer to the boat description.
    Most of electric outlets on board are European type.

    Tipping from 5 to 10% of the cruise amount are expected, it express your satisfaction level. Tips are also an important income part for crew members.
