Pianemo

The most photogenic island in Raja Ampat

Pianemo Raja Ampat
  • Traveler's favorite spot

Piaynemo is with no doubt a paradise on Earth. It is the largest and most photogenic island within the Pam Islands, about 60 km West of Waisai. It is rich in nature, covered by trees and bushes. This long and uninhabited island is travelers’ favorite spot when exploring Raja Ampat, given its wonderful view of karst islands cluster and a stunning underwater scenery. The karst island seascape is very similar to the one you find in Wayag island.

    Hiking & Sunbathing

To be able to enjoy this mind-blowing landscape from above, you will have to hike up about three hundred stairs, taking around 20 minutes. What looks like a big climb, is in fact, fairly easy as the path is in good repair. There are a few stalls at the base of the stairs, selling refreshing snacks and coconuts. Once on the top, be delighted by the scenic wonders of this bay, called Hidden Bay. This lookout offers a complete view of these karst islets, coming just out from the ocean surrounded by turquoise waters. This will inspire you to go back down, put on your snorkeling or diving gear, and hop back into the crystal blue sea.

There are many small, secluded, and quiet islands, within the Pam archipelago, where you will find incredible beaches, unreal reefs for snorkeling, and in some cases, coconut plantations. This means island hopping is a very good alternative. Speedboat services are a good choice for getting around easily.

Pianemo a Perfect Place to Relax

    Diving & Snorkeling

Diving and snorkeling in the cluster of Pam Islands, is like anywhere in Raja Ampat, a highlight not to be missed. The pristine reefs of this area are full of marine life, with calm water and some of the best corals of the world. You will dive around colorful hard and soft corals, sponges, walls and crinoids. Some of the marine species you will find are lionfish, nudibranchs, wobbegong sharks, sea snakes, angelfish, pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish, and mushroom coral pipefish, just to name a few. Some sites are a dream for macro photographers and other ones are incredibly accessible to snorkelers. This zone has a great diversity of corals and marine life.

    Visit the Pam archipelago

Despite being relatively far removed from the rest of the Raja Ampat regency of islands; the Pam archipelago is worth visiting, not only for its wonders, but for being far less crowded than other similar spots around Asia. Pam Islands offer exciting adventures for everyone, whether you enjoy diving, snorkeling, trekking, walking, or simply relax in peace. Throughout the trip, relax and enjoy the wonderful views along. If the weather is good, you may even see dolphins.
