    Tatawa Kecil is a small island located in the South of Tatawa Besar, in the North Central part of Komodo National Park. Unlike its sister island, but like many other sites in the park, Tatawa Kecil is known for having strong current, as it is in the middle of the Linta strait, the strait between Komodo Island and Rinca Island. It isn’t the easiest dive site, so it is recommended only for experienced divers, however, the challenge is totally worth it. Due to these currents, Tatawa Kecil is not the best place for snorkeling, however this is not an issue, since in its sister island, Tatawa Besar, conditions are remarkable for snorkeling.

    Tatawa Kecil is a popular and stunning dive site, offering intriguing rock formations, caves, swim throughs, boulders, drop offs, and a massive field with huge and vibrant coral gardens. The topography of the site differs greatly from other ones, it is one of the most fascinating and unique in the park. It has almost anything a diver can hope to see, both big and small, an enjoyable dive is guaranteed. Tatawa Kecil is the right spot to do some cave diving, but first make sure you have all the necessary certifications.

    World-class drift dive

    In this world class drift dive site, you will encounter numerous pelagic fish species. When going down in the south west corner of this small island, you will encounter many eagle rays, giant trevallies, and sharks. If you continue northwards, you can see in the walls small invertebrates and nudibranchs that will catch your attention, as well as numerous cleaning stations for the always present oriental sweetlips. Some other fishes that are part of this terrific dive site are bumphead parrotfish swimming in groups hunting for food, motionless batfish hanging around the blue, some bamboo sharks relaxing in the rock formations, as well as snappers, large groupers, sea snakes, blue fin trevallies, fusiliers, hawksbill turtles, dogtooth tuna, giant tuna, barracudas, moray eels and napoleon wrasse. You may even see Manta Rays, and if luck is on your side, even Dugongs can be seen. And don’t forget the good number of big rocks and caves, with beautiful coral gardens just under the surface, the colorful soft and hard coral and anemones, and the crystal clear reef that will allow you to witness all this natural underwater environment.

    Conditions and best season to visit this site?

    Tatawa Kecil is another dive site that must be seen on a Komodo diving trip.

    The maximum depth of Tatawa Kecil is 30 meters, although it is not necessary to dive that deep. The water is usually between 27-28°C.

    You can dive Tatawa Kecil all year long, but if there is a best time of the year to do it, from April to November.

    To enter Indonesia your passport must have:

    Open water certified divers or equivalent will have access to most of the dive sites, but to make the best of the cruise Advanced level and experience in drift dive is recommended. You can spend a few days with us in Bali before starting your cruise, by joining our Safari tour or to get your Advanced certification in one of our four dive centers, it will allow you to dive up to 30m depth, to join night dives and be more confident and comfortable while drift diving.

    For an even better training we recommend you to join the drift specialty in Nusa Lembongan.

    Indonesia spread over its more than 5000 km along the Equator which offers a tropical climate with only two season, dry & wet.

    Dry season is mainly from May to October Wet season from November to April.
    Keep in mind that Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago, so you can visit year-round as wet season won’t start in the same time in different places.

    Landscapes are also pretty different due to Tropical rainforest climate and Tropical savannah climate.

    We do recommend you to bring your own gears if you already own it. If not it’s not a big deal, you can rent the full set onboard, some of our partners provide rental equipment for free, maximum you can expect another 60$ per day.
    As a reminder, every scuba diver should be equipped with: Wetsuite/BCD/Regulator set/Fins/Weight system/Dive computer/SMB/Torchlight/Compass.

    Nitrox tanks are available on most of the boats, please refer to the boat description.

    Included: Transportation between airport & boat (return)/ Accommodation/ Meals and snacks/ non alcoholic beverage/ 12L tanks and weight system for divers

    Not Included:     Marine park and Port authority fees / International and domestic flights/ Traveling - Diving Insurance / alcoholic beverage & espresso/ massage/ 15L tanks and dive gears rental for scuba divers

    Most of the time €, Us$ are accepted onboard, but we do recommend you to bring enough cash in local currency IDR. Payement by card are available on some boats, please refer to the boat description.
    Most of electric outlets on board are European type.

    Tipping from 5 to 10% of the cruise amount are expected, it express your satisfaction level. Tips are also an important income part for crew members.
