Fiabacet

An untouched paradise

Fabiacet Raja Ampat
  • A succession of four small islands

Fiabacet is a chain of four small islands, located about 25 kilometers Southeast of Misool Island. Being a quite remote area, keeps its beauty untouched, and you will feel that you are the first diver to dive in here, in the best spots of Indonesia and in the whole world.

The set of islands has a dramatic topography, pinnacles and submerged plateaus around the islets are surrounded by deep waters, with an amazing visibility, one of the best in Raja Ampat, reaching up to more than 30 meters, making it a true playground for wide-angle photographers. This great visibility plus a diving depth up to 40 meters, will allow you to easily enjoy the excellent fish life and colors around you.

    A beautiful Fauna & Flora

In these dive sites it is possible to see anything, it is home to a large variety of marine creatures, from the rarest blenny, to great hammerhead sharks coming up from the deep to check out what divers are doing.

In the shallow water Fiabacet really comes to life with an abundance of soft corals, colorful leather corals and sponges, whip corals, colorful tubers, an array of mixed fans and sea squirts covering the reef crest. You will see neon fusiliers, schooling pale-lipped surgeonfish, black and white striped angelfish, whilst damsel fish and fairy basslets catch the light from the sun as they dart in and out of the reef. Green turtles can be seen munching on the sponges as well.

    Juvenile Sweetlips

    Colorful Reef & other Pelagic

In the deeper sections are masses of large pink, purple and lilac gorgonian fans and sea fans. You will spot 6-banded angelfish and blue-girdled angelfish, orange-spotted trevally trying to hunt their prey of slender fusiliers which try to avoid the hunter’s advances. Hundreds of red tooth triggerfish and schooling bannerfish are found in the reefs.

Currents can be strong, but they bring lots of food to large pelagic fish in the area, such as schools of yellowtail barracuda and big eyes trevally. You will also see mackerel, tuna, Napoleon wrasse, rainbow runners and reef sharks and Wobbegong sharks are also seen.

    The beauty of Fiabacet islets

The first island is quite narrow, with a submerged pinnacle lying off its northwestern tip. The second island is surrounded by steep bankings and walls. These two islands are separated by about 60 meters. When the current is running, the channel between these 2 islands is a terrific place to witness the fish action. The dive between the 3rd and 4th islets is also a fantastic experience. Fiabacet underwater ridge links Boo Rocks, on the eastern side, with Kalig Island on the west. In the shallower areas of the ridge you will find amazing dive sites named Tank Rock, Nudi Rock and Whale Rock.

The beauty of the whole Fiabacet is hard to match, with a selection of dive sites, deep and shallow ones, walls with a superb coral coverage and outstanding colorful soft corals in general. In addition to the already mentioned marine life you will see sweetlips, grouper, anthias, batfish, parrotfish, boxfish, pufferfish, mobula rays, scorpionfish, schools of snapper in several varieties as well as different kinds of butterflyfish and many more. Macro life is abundant too with many pygmy seahorses galore, flatworms, nudibranch, colorful anemones and reef octopus. These small series of exceptional 4 islets lie in a short chain, with a breathtaking scenery and a profusion of life, so bring your nitrox certification because you will want to stay down for as long as your air will last.
