    Huge diversity of Pelagic

The reason why Blue Magic is so popular among divers, is because it features lots of pelagic fish. The name of the site comes from the clear blue waters around the pinnacle and the magic of diving in a site with such a large number of pelagic fish. Most of these fish gather at this dive site either to feed or to be cleaned, as there are several cleaning stations, a display that can be regularly observed by divers.

The biodiversity of Blue Magic is quite large, so divers should look out for the many different species that can be found. The pelagic fish include many different species of jack fish, the most common type of fish seen in the site, often swimming together near the surface, as well as tuna and oceanic Manta Rays swimming out in the deep blue. Grey reef sharks are also frequent here, along with white tip reef sharks and black tip reef sharks.

More Pelagic & also some Macro

As you descend deeper, it is common to come across bighead trevallies, dog-toothed tunas, large schools of sweetlips, wobbegong sharks and swirling schools of hunting barracudas. Other fish you will spot are butterfly fish, snapper, fusilier wrasse, Spanish Mackerel, triggerfish, eels, bump head parrots, groupers, damselfish and many more. Under every overhang you’ll find surgeons, squirrelfish and soldier fish hiding.

There are plenty of places to get down low and look for the small stuff too, on the top of the pinnacle are all kinds of nudibranchs hiding in the reef, pygmy seahorses, crabs, octopus, shrimps, flatworms and scorpion fish. Along the slopes and onto the reef top are a variety of fans, sponges and soft and hard corals. Large coral heads provide protection for more reclusive reef inhabitants.

Kind of dive & weather conditions

Different types of fishes and corals are waiting to be found, but as can be expected with pelagic fish dive sites, the currents are a little bit strong, which can make it a bit challenging reaching further. At the lower parts of the dive, the current is not as strong though, however it is still recommended for more experienced divers and an advanced level is advised.

Visibility is normally above 15 meters and can reach a maximum of 30 meters. You can enjoy this must-dive in Raja Ampat all year round, because the water temperature ranges from 28 to 30 Celsius degrees, providing comfortable diving conditions throughout the year. Having said that, the high season is from October through April, when blooming plankton brings more pelagic fish.
