What island should pick for trekking?

Komodo Island is the biggest island in Komodo National park, the most popular and most visited. Nevertheless, this doesn’t not mean it is the only island worth exploring, quite the opposite, there are plenty of other wonderful less crowded islands to explore. They can be smaller in size, but the treks and viewpoints are all breathtaking.

As other activities than trekking, such as snorkeling in clear crystal water, diving, relaxing and more you can go for a day or just half a day to do some treks in Komodo National Park, you will for sure be amazed by the spectacular landscape provided by each of the islands, as well as you will feel an ease of the pure natural atmosphere that surrounds you.

There are treks for all levels. For example, in Rinca island there are 3 trekking routes which you can choose based on your fitness level.  Upon your arrival on the island, a well-trained naturalist guide will brief you on the characteristic Komodo and the safety procedure.  Some treks will include meeting the mighty Komodo dragons, the largest lizard on the planet, being in their natural habitat. Some treks are not really hard, but consider it can get a bit hot, with sunny and hot weather. There are also treks in smaller islands, with stunning viewpoints. Pretty much, all this area will be a delight for your senses.

Best season to visit these wonderful islands?

As you find different options for different fitness levels, you can also find tours for different kinds of budgets, from cost-conscious backpackers to those looking for that little bit of luxury.

During the normal season, you will be able to visit many islands, Rinca island, Komodo island and the smaller islands around Komodo National Park, however during the peak rainy season around December – February, due to the strong current and waves in Komodo Islands region, tours operators take you to Rinca Island only.
