Small trekking and best sunset in Komodo

In the dry season the island almost looks brown everywhere, with parched golden brown meadows, while in the rainy season all this changes and the island turns the color into green with hills covered in lush.

Visitors mainly go to Gili Lawa Darat for the scenic view that awaits them as they trek and reach the peak. The island has easy hiking trails and two viewpoints to suit both spectacular sunrise and sunsets. However, the best recommended time to trek to the peak is sunset, when the panoramic view of the bay and the surroundings is breathtaking, it is just the greatest sunset spot in Komodo. For beginners the trekking to the peak may be a bit challenging, but it is perfectly doable and definitely worthwhile. At the top, facing to the west, you can see the Sanghiang island from far, an active volcano island. It is heaven for those who love photography.

    Perfect place for watersports

The island is protected from winds and waves, which makes it the perfect spot for water sports, such a stand up paddle, kayaking and many more. This place has a very diverse and unique underwater beauty and is full of marine surprises, as it is close to the ocean. If you are lucky enough you may encounter a humpback or blue whale emerging majestically from the sea. This island is also a favorite place for advanced divers.

Gili Lawa Darat bay is a perfect place for Liveaboard to stay during the night as it is always calm and protected from current and waves.
