Yellow Wall

Incredible dive site in the South of Komodo National Park

Dive Site Komodo Yellow Wall
  • The best wall dive in the Komodo archipelago

Yellow Wall is a dive site located in the South part of Komodo National Park, in the Southeastern corner of Loh Dasami Bay. It is probably the best wall dive in the whole Komodo archipelago.

The name of the site is after the cute little sea cucumbers that look like hundreds of bright yellow nudibranchs. The yellow color of the wall becomes more evident in the afternoon when the sun provides more natural lighting. This beautiful wall starts at 5 meters and goes down for more than 30 meters, but there is no need to go that deep, since most of the interesting marine life is at shallower depths. This means Yellow Wall can be dived both, deep and shallow, making it also a great spot for snorkeling. The site has a mild current.

Sometimes some larger pelagic passes near the wall and also many schools of small reef fish. Going down the wall, divers will find some triggerfish, butterflyfish and angelfish, as well as bigger marine species, such as green sea turtles, red snappers, and whitetip sharks.

At night dives, Yellow Wall is a paradise, with plenty of fish life. Be ready to encounter sleeping turtles, cat sharks, coral trout, many kinds of cardinal fishes and parrot fishes in their cocoons.

Most of the time the current flows South to North, making the best entry point around the Western-most tip of the headland; so then the dive continues along with the current into the bay.

You can dive Yellow Wall all year long, being the best months from October till April. During high season it can be a bit difficult to reach the site due to rough sea conditions. The water temperature can be lower than other central / north areas and the visibility can be lower in July and August, however Yellow Wall is another dive you will enjoy to the fullest and will not want it to end!
